  • Read the latest article posted in the “Cracking the Code Interactive Newsletter,” by Mark Berman titled "LLC Member Interests and Bankruptcy: Courts Begin to Sort Things Out." The LLC, taking some of its attributes from partnerships and other attributes from corporations, has become an entity of choice in business ventures. As a relatively new entity, however, there are few bankruptcy court decisions dealing with how member interests in an LLC will be treated when a member becomes the subject of a bankruptcy case. A few recent bankruptcy court decisions allow us a peek at where things appear to be headed.

  • ABI and INSOL launched the new GlobalINSOLvency.com web site in August. The new site provides daily news on international insolvency, publications on cross-border issues and content provided from around the world.

  • The Bankruptcy Telecommunications Manual, is available through the online publications catalog. Written by Debra Grassgreen of Pachulski, Stang, Ziehl, Young, Jones & Weintraub PC, this book addresses the basics of first-day motions and provides an overview of administrative, operational and substantive motions/orders. Other recent titles added to ABI's publications catalog include the Consumer Bankruptcy Manual (Fundamentals of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code), European Union Regulation on Insolvency Proceedings: An Introductory Analysis and First-day Motions: A Practical Guide to the Critical First Days of a Bankruptcy Case. These titles and more are available through the online publications catalog.

  • The latest bankruptcy court opinions and circuit case updates are made available at ABI world every week.
